Our Mission Statement
Oasis partners with communities to create hope and opportunity for children and their families by providing education, mentoring, nutrition, and love.
Oasis is an educational after school program for kids and teenagers in Colonia Vicente Guerrero, Baja California Mexico, located about 175 miles south of the border at San Diego. It is a safe place for kids to come and play after school, receive help with their homework and school supplies, do arts and crafts, eat a hot meal, and learn English, computer skills, and other subjects.
Oasis began in 2011 with 20 students and two teachers
There are 150 children now enrolled in the program ages 4-16
Kids enroll in the program for the whole academic year
Oasis provides over 500 meals a week
We have a 5:1 ratio of children to teachers in the classroom
In 2016, the second Oasis program opened
We want to take the Oasis program into other communities in need of support, resources and motivation. We want to continue to sponsor our students through high school and beyond into the university level, providing scholarships and continued support. We want to invest in the lives of the youth so they in turn invest in their own families and communities.
Non-profit Organization & Funding
Oasis operates under a registered U.S. non-profit organization called Action for Community Transformation (ACT) based in Charlotte, NC. Oasis is also registered as a local Mexican non-profit organization called "Oasis After School Program, A.C." Oasis is funded and supported by various churches, families, and individual donors in the United States, as well as a few local Mexican organizations and businesses.
